When she had first partnered up with Soul, she didnt think either of them had any clue what was in store.
Just another pair of weapon and meister, training to battle your normal run of the mill kishin eggs like hundreds of other Death City residents.

It was a pretty professional relationship. as professional as two stubborn teens could get, at least. Neither had shown any romantic interest in eachother for a long time, even while living together.
She had agreed to train him to be a Death Scythe, thinking of him purely as JUST a weapon, and he had probably thought of her as JUST a meister that would get him to the top.
It was a mutual relationship.

Of course it wasn't as cold and boring as it seemed. Obviously living together had gradually brought them closer, by their 80th soul (BEFORE the Blair incident) they could comfortably call eachother close friends, often spending time together despite their constant bickering.

She thinks it was right around when Soul had protected her from Stein that she started to have strong feelings for him. Not romantic, not yet, but an indescribable bond.
Partnership.

Once she knew he was serious about being weapon and meister, she decided she would step up too, training even harder to prevent any madness. She was truely touched and slightly flattered by his display of trust when he blocked Stein from her. That's the first time things felt real. When she was faced with the reality that they might die. And Soul was willing to die before her.
She didn't know he was that dedicated to being her weapon.

And then, of course, their was the time Chrona had cut Soul's torso. Maka knew SOul said he would die for her, but there he was actually trying to prove it! She still felt guilt everytime she thought of that moment. That's when she started caring very deeply for Soul. When their relationship (even on just a friend level) had tooken another step. Even though Soul could irritate her to the bone, he would take any hit for her. What a gentleman.

When the Kishin had escaped, she knew things were going to change. She KNEW they were going to be involved, all of them. She knew her and Soul were starting to slowly get deeper and deeper...
It scared her. It scared her that she was allowing herself to care for someone so much, definitely more than her Papa, and maybe even more than Mama, who was never around.
It scared her that he promised he would die before her. Because thinking of living without him started to scare her.
Hell, the fact she was getting so worried even scared her.

Maka had been getting lost in her thoughts tonight. Why was she suddenly thinking of all this now? She was officially a member of Spartoi, those events seemd VERY far away. Her and Soul at the moment were at the height of their partnership, complete trust, their arguemments getting less and less, and personally Maka was growing really fond of Soul.
Sometimes she questioned if Soul saw anything in her other than friends and partners. Lets see.
-He teases her about her breat size
-He says she has no sex appeal
-She constantly sees Blair hitting on him
-He has an incredible attitude towards her sometimes

Yeah. Didn't seem like it.
But still....
The way he protects her, the way he puts up with her bookworminess, the way he's always with her and compliments her cooking and trains with her and...
The way she feels when they resonate souls.

She felt her heart flutter thinking about it. The sound of his music playing, the way it feels as if they're the only ones in the world, the way they click and instantly battle 10x better.
And mainly, the time she had visited Soul's soul.

She had once heard Black*Star talking to Stein about how when he had been in Tsubaki's soul, it was like he was standing on water, with a gray background that looked cloudy. Very plain, but it also had the smell of flowers. And overwhelming scent of it, that made him feel calm and relaxed, very unlike how he usually is. Stein had said that a weapon's soul maisfests itself on it's feeling toward it's partner, which is probably why Tsubaki's soul was very quiet but comforting.

That lead Maka to think of when she was in Soul's soul. Everything was gothic themed, Red and black curtains hung around all the walls, cheezy jazz music in the background, and a grand piano that Soul usually refused to play.
And they were dresses up, too. Which was odd, Black*Star had never mentioned his clothes changing, only that Tsubaki had the marks of the shadow sword on her skin.
Maka wore a beautiful black dress and heels that fit her body better than any dress in real life, and Soul looked.
Well Soul had looked stunning.
He wore a black pinstripe suit, his hair actually combed for once, and he had a certain swagg to him that made him incredibly charming. She hoped that she had looked as smooth as him.

But the point was, Soul's soul was incredibly undeniably romantic. It may have seemed very random that they had started dancing, considering their situation, but for some reason it had seemed right. When the little demon had suggested it and snapped his fingers to play the music, it seemd that dancing together was the most reasonable thing in the world.
Damned black blood.

When they had danced they remained very cool, slowly swaying to the soft music. Soul's hand on Maka's waist felt so alien at the time. other than holding hands to battle they never really had much physical contact. Not that she was complaining.

But why was Soul's soul so romantic? Stein had said it maisfested it's feelings toward a partner, so did that mean...?
No. There was a very strong chance the black blood altered Soul's soul, explaining the excessive black. But than again, Soul had always been a fan of things like that.

Gahh, she just didn't know what to think. She wanted to believe that Soul had feelings for her, explaining why whenever they resonated she felt so much passion, but at the same time her logic self was saying it was all just a part of Soul's being in sync.

Whatever the case, she couldn't deny that she herself had developed feelings for her partner. She blushed slightly at her realization. It was true, imagining him with someone else gave her a horrible feeling. She could tolerate Blair, since she secretly knew it was a one-sided relationship. (She had so much fun chopping Soul for it though)
But what did he think? He had told her many times she wasn't the most attractive girl, but he always had that tone that told her he was just trying to tease her. It still pissed her off though.

She was getting at least a little more matured, at least. She hadn't noticed until their new uniforms that her legs were getting more shapely, not like her old chicken legs. She was beginning to gain curves and had thrown herself a mental party when she had gone up to a B Cup (nevermind that all the girls she knew were well above C...)

In the middle of her thinking spree on her bed, Soul had walked in.
Maka lay there on her bed in a small tank top and panties, flat on her stomach with her legs bent in the air, swinging in a bored fashion, head propped up on her hands.

Soul's hand was still on the handle when she looked up at him quickly, her mouth open but no words coming out. Soul stared at her up and down for 2 seconds, shived his hands in his pockets and grinned largely at her.
"When did you get tits?"

Soul later woke up in the hallway, book lodged deeply into his skull.
i was bored. trololololololol.
